My ancestor was tried as a witch!

I recently found out some very interesting news.

It turns out that I am a decendant of Susannah North Martin who was tried as a witch and hung in Salem, Massachutes in 1692.

What makes this so much more exciting for me, is that I was adopted as a child. When I went into foster care at the age of 4, then adopted at the age of 10, I figured my chances of ever knowing where I came from or having a true family history was over and done with.

Then, a few years ago I had a very resourceful aunt contact me. Getting to know my birth mother's sister was something I had never thought could be a reality. I have to admit, it was scary, too. But she's been amazing to get to know, and she's even gone to a couple of book signings with me. It also turns out that my Aunt Beth is really into geneology.

So, yeah, my Great Grandmother x10 was accused of witchcraft by a few not-so-pleasant teenage girls that she'd never met before. With no one to stand by her side, Susannah Martin was tried and convicted then hung in July of 1692.

Have you found any interesting ancestors in your family tree?
